Why I start my health reboot with fasting

When your starting a new health journey you typically look around at others, you research all the different crazy ideas and you buy every supplement you can think of to be successful. Juice fast, water fast, grapefruit fast, intermittent fasting, apple diet, 40 day fast, the Blake diet, and plenty of others that you find out there.


Once you try a few of these ideas and find that some may not be as helpful as planned, you seek help.



Many Medical Doctors may not be willing to help you because they don't use that treatment in their practice and may not fully understand it (keep in mind, most MD's only take 1 nutrition class during thier schooling), however, if you have an underlying condition such as diabetes, you should be monitored by your physician upon starting a fast.

Intermittent fasting can be a different number of hours.

Many people start with a 16/8 which means you do not eat for 16 hours. For instance if you finish eating at 7pm your wouldn't have breakfast (or break-fast) until after 11am


This type of time restricted eating gives your body a break from proccessing food and allows it to cleanse and detoxify.

Intermittent fasting results in lowered levels of oxidative stress to cells throughout the body.

The 16/8 method of intermittent fasting showed that it significantly reduced fat mass while retaining both muscle mass and strength.


Studies have found that intermittent fasting benefits your blood sugar levels by keeping them well-regulated and preventing spikes and crashes. Another study showed that fasting decreased blood sugar by 12 percent and also lowered insulin levels by nearly 53 percent.

Fasting was shown to influence several components of heart health. It increased good HDL cholesterol and decreased both bad LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels.


Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry showed that intermittent fasting caused an increase in levels of adiponectin.


Always listen to your body. If you feel weakness or fatigue when you go an entire day with no food, try and have a light meal or snack.If you have gallbladder or thyroid issues fasting may not be ideal. Never fast when pregnant or breastfeeding.




Drink lots of water and be sure to get your proper amount of minerals. If constipation occurs, try adding a bit of himylayan sea salt in warm water and drink in the morning.


The most important part of fasting is how you refuel your body when it is time to eat again. You never want to run out and have a burger and fries or a never ending pizza buffet. How you refuel will "re-teach" your cells and you don't want them to jump back into that stressed or damaged state. Be sure you are eating small healthy meals, or better yet, refuel with a green drink that will flood your body with nutrition and no chemicals, preservatives or sugars.
